SLIK’s exclusive AMT super titanium alloy legs make the PRO 700DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. “What’s so great about AMT alloy?” You may be thinking. AMT has a 40% greater strength to weight ratio than standard aluminum. The legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today’s tripods. Slik was also thinking ahead when it designed the head and quick release system. Instead of being squared off and attaching just one way like other quick releases, the Slik PRO 700 DX quick release is circular so the camera can mount quickly facing in any direction you choose.

“Very well made. Easy to set up with many possible variations. Even though it’s very tall, it’s also very sturdy. Although it’s spec’d for a maximum load of 11 pounds, the instructions recommend a load of 4 pounds, 6 oz. My fully loaded Canon Rebel weighs 4 pounds and it seems like it could handle much more weight. Maybe all the tripods exaggerate like this. I’m especially pleased with the silky-smooth panning action for movie making. I paid only slightly more than the older 500DX.” – By Victor Huebner

The PRO 500 HD was created for DSLR’s that have HD video recording capability. The SH-736HD is a smooth-moving fluid effect 2-way pan head with quick release for easy mounting and removal of a DSLR, video camera or camera. This all-metal head is specifically designed for photo and video use. The 2-way pan head moves in two directions like a professional video head.

The SH-736HD has pan and tilt drag controls that are separate from the pan/tilt handle locks. This allows the photographer to fine-tune the tightness of the movement based on the weight of the camera and lens. The head can hold up to 11.0 lbs of equipment.

This full sized tripod has 3 leg sections to collapse down to just over 27 inches. The PRO 500 HD makes setting up easy with secure, speed-release leg locks. Padded leg wraps make the tripod more comfortable to carry. 3-position, multi-angle leg locks allow easy set-up on uneven ground or steps.

The PRO 500 HD has a gearless center column that unscrews into two pieces converting the top piece into a short column. This feature combined with the adjustable leg angle locks allow the tripod to be lowered to about 14 inches for very low angle or macro photography in the field.
